Mark's Background

Mark W. Leuthauser is the practitioner at the heart of Third Way Conflict Resolution.

After earning a degree in Human Services with a Counseling focus, Mark has been a professional Mediator for nearly fifteen years. Trained and certified in accordance with standards set by the New York State Unified Court System, Mark has earned nearly two dozen specialty certifications, including Divorce & Separation, Parenting Plan, Child Support, Large Group, Workplace, Special Education, Parent-Teen, Agricultural, and Community-Police.

Mark is a trained Civil Practice Arbitrator, processing cases from Small Claims, Criminal Restitution, Attorney-Client Fee Disputes, and Lemon Law. In addition, Mark has been trained in a variety of Restorative Justice Practices, such as Community Circles, Responsive Circles, and Family Group Conferencing.

Mark has been trained both by the International Institute for Restorative Practices and the Mediation Training Institute at Eckerd College. Having delivered hundreds of hours of quality training across the state and across the country, Mark has created a variety of programs for businesses, nonprofits, schools, and communities. This includes trainings and workshops for the Association for Conflict Resolution, the Mediation And Conflict Resolution Office, and the New York State Dispute Resolution Association. Mark is a practicing member and former Board Member of the Board of Directors of the New York State Dispute Resolution Association.

Mark formerly served as the Executive Director of a Community Dispute Resolution Center, and was instrumental in creating and developing programs focused on Experiential Learning, Divorce Mediation, Juvenile Justice, Peer Mediation, and Community-Police Mediation.
